Bangladesh in the final of the Junior AHF Cup. Bangladesh reached the finals of the Junior AHF (Asian Hockey Federation) Cup. Youth of Bangladesh defeated Thailand 3-0 in the semi-final at Muscat’s Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex today. Rahid Hasan, Zahid Hossain and Rakibul Hasan scored one goal each. Bangladesh will face the winner of the Oman-Uzbekistan match in the final tomorrow.

Thailand played a great game in the first and second quarters of Bangladesh. Bangladesh had to wait till 48 minutes to get the first goal. Raheed Hasan’s field goal leads Bangladesh. Then Zahid Hossain doubled the gap from the penalty corner in the 56th minute of the match. And in the 58th minute, Bangladesh left the field with a 3-0 victory by Rakibul Hasan’s field goal.

The acting general secretary of the Hockey Federation, Mohammad Yusuf, who accompanied the team told Prothom Alo on the phone from Oman that the Bangladesh team could have scored a goal earlier in the match. Otherwise it could have been a goal in the first quarter. I think they took Thailand lightly. I saw the impression of confidence in the body language of the boys. But to correct these mistakes, we are now fully focused on the final match.

There was uncertainty about the Bangladesh team going to play in Oman due to sponsor complications. That’s why the team started practice late. Even though they went to Oman for only 15 days of practice, the players of Bangladesh expected to become champions. Rakibul Hasan has set his eyes on the champion trophy by maintaining the success in every match.

Earlier, Bangladesh beat Hong Kong 4-0 in the first match of the tournament. Then in the second match they beat Sri Lanka 14-0. 6-1 win against Uzbekistan in the last match of the group stage.
