Real Madrid or Barcelona, whichever team loses in the battle between the two arch-rivals, cannot accept. Barcelona could not accept it after losing 3-1 to Real in El Clasico yesterday.
The president of the team, Joan Laporta, went to the referee’s dressing room after the match. He demanded accountability for some of the referee’s decisions in the match. Referee Sanchez Martinez mentioned it in his post-match report.
Laporta was unhappy with the referee’s two decisions in the match. Both are penalty-related. Barcelona’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was thrown by Dani Carvajal in the Real Madrid box at one point in the match.
The second incident of the match involving penalties was added time. Eric Garcia stepped on Rodrigo in Barcelona’s penalty box. Referee Martinez blows the penalty whistle. Rodrigo scored from the penalty. Shortly after that, the referee blew the final whistle.
After the match, the referee wrote in his report in the other incident section, “After the match, the team of referees came to the dressing room. Barcelona president Juan Laporta was also present. He repeatedly asked for an explanation of some incidents of the match. At one stage, the referees were asked to leave the dressing room without any incident.
