Women’s Ice Hockey heads to Holy Cross, Merrimack for Split Weekend

The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team heads on the road as they face off against two Hockey East opponents in Holy Cross and Merrimack.

For UMaine, they are coming off of a tough weekend where they found themselves falling to UNH on Friday, Oct. 22, 4-1, and the Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 23, 5-2.

Maine was led by Ally Johnson, who supplied two of the three goals for the Black Bears on the weekend. Morgan Trimper scored the third goal for the Black Bears.

Loryn Porter stopped 43 of 47 shots faced on the weekend, while Jorden Mattison supplied an extra 9 saves in her first period performance against Boston College.

For Holy Cross, they find themselves at 1-7-0 on the season, with their latest weekend series being against Vermont and Northeastern, where they fell 4-2 and 3-1, respectively. Millie Sirum leads Holy Cross in goals with 2 on the season and is tied with teammate Emma Lange for team lead in points at 3.

For Merrimack, they are still searching for their first win of the 2021-22 season, as they currently sit at 0-8-1. Dominika Laskova leads her team in both assists (3) and points (6) while tied with Katie Kaufman and Teghan Inglis for goals. All three players have 3 a piece.

Action is set to begin on Friday at 7:00 P.M. against Holy Cross and on Saturday at 4:00 P.M. against MerrimackĀ for the Black Bears.
