The coach was in charge of Indian women’s and men’s hockey teams. A joint statement issued by the two parties said that he is making false allegations. He resorted to such cheap popularity for the sake of selling books.
India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams are set to file a court complaint against the former coach. Sward Marin recently wrote a book on the rise of Indian women’s hockey team. In that book, he accused Indian men’s team player and captain Manpreet Singh of match fixing. The players of both the teams were shocked to see that.
India’s women’s team finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics under Marin’s coaching. That is their best performance in Olympics. They did not get the medal for a short time. However, it has received praise. After that, Marin left the responsibility of the women’s team. He wrote a book about that expedition. The subject of the men’s team has also come up there. Marin was the coach of the men’s team before taking charge of the women’s team. He alleged that during the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Manpreet asked a player to play badly so that his friend could get a chance in the team.
Soon after, the women’s and men’s teams issued a joint statement saying Marin was making false allegations. It has also been alleged that he has resorted to such cheap popularity for the sake of selling books. The statement said legal action would be taken against the Dutch coach.
Marin was the coach of the men’s team for nine months. He was dropped after a disappointing performance in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He became the coach of the women’s team.
